Tropical Sunrise Passionfruit Orange (Printable)

A layered tropical drink of passionfruit, orange and pineapple with grenadine for a vibrant sunrise and refreshing finish.

# Ingredient List:

→ Fruit juices

01 - 1/2 cup passionfruit juice (fresh or bottled)
02 - 3/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
03 - 1/4 cup pineapple juice

→ Sweetener

04 - 1 tablespoon grenadine syrup

→ Garnish & extras

05 - Ice cubes, as needed
06 - 2 orange slices (for garnish)
07 - 2 fresh mint sprigs (optional)
08 - Passionfruit pulp, to taste (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Place two tall glasses in the refrigerator or fill briefly with ice to chill; then discard excess water and refill each glass with fresh ice cubes.
02 - Divide the juices between the two glasses: pour 1/4 cup passionfruit juice into each glass, then add 3/8 cup orange juice to each, followed by 2 tablespoons pineapple juice per glass.
03 - Slowly pour 1/2 tablespoon grenadine syrup down the inside edge of each glass so the syrup sinks and then gradually rises through the layers, forming a sunrise gradient.
04 - Top each glass with an orange slice and a mint sprig; add a spoonful of passionfruit pulp if desired. Do not stir to preserve the layers.
05 - Serve immediately while the layered effect is intact.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • This mocktail looks impressively festive, so no one ever guesses how quick it is to make.
  • I keep it in rotation because it's the one drink my whole family requests whenever the weather even hints at warm.
02 -
  • Once I dumped in the grenadine too quickly and ended up with a muddled pink drink—pour slowly along the glass instead.
  • Chilling the juices before assembling means the ice won't melt too fast and spoil the pretty layers.
03 -
  • Rinse the inside of glasses with a bit of cold water before assembling for enhanced clarity in the layers.
  • Adding a pinch of salt to the passionfruit juice sharpens its flavor and balances the sweetness—my little secret.
